About
our Kindergarten Program
Great
New Beginnings Early Childhood Learning Center has been providing
a solid kindergarten program to the community since September 2000.
Our program offers a more challenging and advanced curriculum to the children to better prepare them for the demands of first grade. Our kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Michelle Orrell, is more than happy to speak with any parent in regard to what her program offers our kindergarten students. We do accept advanced Prekindergarten students as well if they are able to meet the academic criteria for the kindergarten program. Just like the school districts, we follow the 8/31 cut-off date for the child to turn five years of age for admission to the kindergarten program.
Currently, the Kindergarten Program is offered at our Governor’s Square location only.
Our curriculum
adheres to the standards set forth by the State of Delaware Department
of Public Education. The philosophy and goal of the kindergarten
program is to develop and strengthen the “whole” child.
In other words, to provide the necessary framework for optimum growth
in the areas of cognitive, social/emotional and physical development,
our class sizes are traditionally smaller than the public school
system, which allows a child more individualized attention.
In order to
achieve the goal-skills that will prepare your child for later learning
(1st Grade), Great New Beginnings is committed to:
- Providing
a child center environment where children can learn through various
means such as observation and discovery.
- Using concrete
materials, which allow a child to participate and perform an activity
or task either as an individual or within a small or large group.
- Develop his/her
creativity through various forms of art such as music and movement,
the creative arts, drama etc.
- Providing
an environment which instills a love and appreciation of learning.
- To develop
each child according to his/her individual ability.
